1907–1983 | "Johannes Siemes was born in Cologne in 1907; he first came to Japan in 1932 and, except for the years from 1934 to 1939, when he studied philosophy in Berlin and Münster (Westphalia), has resided in Japan since then. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Gregorian University in Rome. A member of the staff of Sophia University in Tokyo since 1940, he is a Professor of German philosophy and the author of several articles dealing with German philosophers and social thinkers - in particular, such men as Friedrich Schlegel and Hermann Roesler."
